The Defense Department on Dec. 6 honored technology-minded teams and individuals in its 13th annual DOD Chief Information Officer Awards.
The first-place team award went to the Army Enterprise Email Migrations Team for its improved architecture and services in expanding DOD enterprise email system.
The individual winner was Charles “Dean” Corpman for his modernization of a portfolio of nuclear command and control programs. Corpman serves as command and control section chief at the U.S. Strategic Command (J-864) at the Offutt Air Force Base.
Winners are chosen because of exemplary performance in improving information delivery and dissemination, management capability, cost reduction, mission impact and other criteria.
The award is the crowning achievement in the department for information technology, management and cybersecurity.
DOD received more than 100 nominations worldwide, both from military and civilian projects.
Placing awards were given for improved medical data sharing and for implementing a partnership program between the DOD and Transportation Security Agency resulting in faster airport screenings.
